Influence of Marital Conflicts on the Academic Performance of Married Students in Faculty of Education, University of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria

Abstract


The focus of the study was to investigate perception of the married students on the influence of marital conflict on the academic performance of married students in Faculty of Education, University of Jos. The purpose of the study was to examine the influence of marital conflicts on the married student’s academic performance. A survey research design was adopted for the study of this research work comprised all married students in Faculty of Education, University of Jos. The sample size of the study was (200) respondents drawn from four departments in the Faculty of Education, the research questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection, to arrive at valid and objective conclusions about the study, four research questions were raised. Descriptive statistic of frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation were used to analyze research questions. the findings revealed that marital conflict affect the academic performance of married students; the findings also revealed that trust, tolerance, love respect are the coping strategies if employed by married students can help them to enhance their academic performance.
