Moderating effect of Task Performance on the relationship between Perceived Organizational Support and Organizational Citizenship Behavior: Among the Staff of Selected Manufacturing Firms in Nigeria
Abstract
The present study delves into the relationship between Perceived Organizational Support (POS) and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) within selected manufacturing firms in Nigeria, specifically emphasizing the moderating role of Task Performance. A descriptive survey method was adopted, targeting a population of 260 employees from these firms, out of which a sample size of 202 was extracted. Data collected was subsequently analyzed using SmartPls. The study findings reveals that supervisory support, organizational reward significantly influences organizational citizenship behaviour, while, fairness has no significant effect organizational citizenship behaviour. Furthermore, the findings also reveal that task performance has moderating effect on the relationship between organizational reward and effect organizational citizenship behaviour. Task performance has moderating effect on the relationship between fairness, supervisory support and effect organizational citizenship behaviour. The insights derived from this study can be invaluable for manufacturing firms in Nigeria and similar contexts, highlighting the need to foster organizational support and task performance for the greater benefit of overall organizational functioning.
